Lethbridge is a city in the province of Alberta, Canada. It is the fourth largest city in Alberta by population, after Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer. At 127.19 square km (49.1 sq mi), it’s the third largest city in area after Calgary and Edmonton. The city is by the Canadian Rockies, which provides Lethbridge with mild winters, and a windy climate. It’s 210 km southeast of Calgary, on the Oldman River.

The city developed from drift mines opened in the late 1900s and agriculture in the early twentieth century. It has grown into the commercial, financial, transportation, and industrial center of the south part of Alberta. Lethbridge provides the only university in the province of Alberta south of Calgary, and two of the three colleges in southern Alberta have campuses in the city of Lethbridge.
