Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Aftercare Services in Newfoundland and Labrador
It is not uncommon for outpatient and inpatient drug and alcohol rehab programs to offer aftercare services for clients who finish treatment. Aftercare services can either be traditional group therapy sessions or twelve-step meetings, which can provide on-going support and help, and people can become connected with sober people. Other aftercare programs do include sober living communities, which is similar to transitional housing that is a sober community where members can begin to build their lives, meet other sober people, and look for gainful employment while continuing to work on his or her sobriety. Aftercare should not be looked at as further drug rehabilitation, but as another stepping stone to living and maintaining a sober life.
