British Columbia Drug rehab

When the time comes to choose a drug and alcohol treatment program in British Columbia, you may find that it will become very confusing. The research for drug rehab centers is difficult to carry out as you will receive differing information from one drug program to another. Some drug rehab centers will try to tell you that they have the best addiction rehabilitation program. Others won't be able to give you a success rate or will be very vague and provide complex responses regarding their rehab center success rates. Now, how can a drug or alcohol rehab program not able to give you a success rate? Either they don't have any or they have sub-par follow up treatment.

Drug-Rehab.ca has done its homework!

We have researched and compared all the drug treatment programs in British Columbia. Before we go on let's take a look at our philosophy.

We never refer people to drug rehabs in British Columbia that employ any prescription drugs to cure an addiction. Our belief is that however easy and wonderful it may seem, a pill does not provide a cure for addiction. Addiction to drugs and alcohol doesn't work like that. Addiction is an inability to deal with life. The addict is not in control of their life and drugs or alcohol becomes a solution for the overwhelming feelings caused by their lack of control over life. So how can a medication increase those abilities to be more in control over daily life? It cannot. What it does is numb the problems and will not solve them.

Substance abuse treatment methods

Twelve steps drug rehab centers: The twelve step treatment is a time tested method of recovery from various obsessive-compulsive behaviors which the affected individuals believe have made their lives unmanageable.  These simple tools for living have been used by millions of people to successfully change their lives and recover from negative and even life threatening behaviors.  They are based on a set of spiritual (not religious) principles originally created by alcoholics anonymous in the United States in 1935.  Anonymity as a spiritual principle is the underpinning of the twelve-step way of life.  Sharing and supporting in groups with like-minded individuals and ongoing fellowship is a major ingredient in the success of the program.

The twelve steps address different "problems" such as alcohol abuse, drug abuse, overeating, gambling etc.

Long term religious based drug rehab centers: The idea of religious-based programs are to get the person out of their environment, get them into a hard work based type of “camp” with an underlying religious concept and get the person back in contact with God. There is a small percentage of completion with these types of drug rehab centers.

Behavioral modification drug rehab centers: This type of treatment is based on trying to break the person down and to dismantle their character, through peer pressure. This is done by relying on methods to tell the person that they are bad and degrading them as an individual. The overall concept is to break the spirit down into something that can be rebuilt. A small percentage of those undergoing behavioral modification programs will be rebuilt into a harmless person.

Biophysical treatment drug rehab centers: This treatment addresses the biophysical and biochemical imbalances with a unique sauna program that eliminates toxins from the body, which in turn eliminate cravings. The sauna program is followed by a social educational program to teach new life skills that will help a person to be able to tackle life’s many hardships and come out on top. The skills include learning to communicate properly, practicing communication, then learning about others personalities and the traits, as well as being able to associate with good people. A large component is the ability to live life based on one’s personal views but within the morals of society.

This culminates with the person applying these skills to repair the damage of the things that are holding them back in life now. Many of these issues are quite often from earlier in life that need to be repaired now, so that the individual can be free to live a happy and drug free, productive life.

The final stage of these drug rehab centers is made specifically for the individual and it is created after the case supervisor has been able to see what that individual needs to work on specifically, to ensure their success.

This method is successful in all drug rehab centers. It allows the person to be a happy, productive, drug free member of society.
