British Columbia Medical Detox Programs
Medical detox centers throughout the province of British Columbia are available to help methadone user’s withdrawal off of the drug safely. Despite methadone being used to help opiate addicts stop using his or her drug of choice; it can be very difficult to stop using as it is very physically addictive. Most methadone user's struggle with getting off of this drug and medical detox programs will help them wean off of it safely, and other drugs are used to help stabilize the withdrawal symptoms under medical supervision. Some opiate addicts choose to stay on methadone after detox, and some drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs will provide their treatment along with methadone treatment. Methadone is not necessarily meant to be used over long periods of time, and it is important that opiate addicts take other measures to ensure they can become completely drug free when they stop using opiates.
