British Columbia Drug and Alcohol Aftercare Treatment
Aftercare programs are important for people and their families after any form of substance abuse treatment and counseling have been completed. Throughout the province of British Columbia are many different types of aftercare programs, and this can include sober living communities, support groups, and transitional housing. Each type of aftercare treatment is specific for individuals needs; for example, sober living communities are there for recovering addicts who have nothing available after treatment, and wish to remain around other sober people and gradually transition back into society. Peer groups and support groups such as the twelve-step meetings throughout the province provide on-going support and help for any recovering addict, and this is also an excellent way to become connected with other sober like-minded people. Regardless of the choice made, most rehabilitation services within the province will offer aftercare support and resources to help people achieve life-long sobriety.
